For the last few centuries, children have been taught that a year is the amount of time it takes for the earth to revolve around the sun and that this process takes 365 days. This is not completely true, however. Some people might think that I was attempting to trick them and that a year is 365.25 days, but that is also technically incorrect. So how long is one year really?
With amazing titles like Spider-Man and God of War releasing exclusively on the Ps4 last year, it can be pretty easy to ignore that the Xbox One even exists. Disappointing releases like State of Decay 2 and Sea of Thieves only served to cement the Xbox One’s status of a joke in the game industry. Despite all of the problems that Xbox One has, Microsoft is adamant in amending the mistakes that its made over its lifetime.
As the year comes to a close, there were some exemplary games that showcased the distinct qualities of smaller, more creative titles. Here are a few of them!

Flat characters are often criticized for being boring and unintuitive, and for good reasons. It’s hard to relate to a character that lacks development and motivation. Our lives do not work like that and most of us have reasons for what we do. However, this does not make flat characters inherently useless.

Despite video games’ relative youth, the medium has been suspected to many of the same issues that other mediums face while attempting to showcase their older titles.
Due to their relative youth, video game have struggled to be adapted into other types of media. The most notable of these are video games being turned into movies. Movies based on video games are notorious for having stories that drastically stray from their original sources. Despite them existing for 25 years, the negative stigma surrounding these movies lingers to this very day.
