Your Voice Matters: Use It!

ALl students at SUNY polytechnic institute have the right to vote…

Or run for the Student Government; it is a choice and is not mandatory in the slightest. One thing I have noticed is a lack of students taking advantage of these rights. Not many students know about the elections in general; they don’t know who is running or the changes and messages they are advocating for. Having asked around, it seems only those directly involved in the SGU, and the four sub-organizations it oversees, know about the election details.

Students only seem to be aware of the aftermath of the election, what changes occurred, the events being held, etc. Last semester, we noticed many students were upset over the outcome of the election, though a majority of them did not partake in the voting itself.

Students have a voice and there are ways to use it; voting in the elections, and educating yourself on who is running and what they are running for. SGU tries to get students involved but they can only do so much, it is the student's decision at the end of the day.

If more advertisements for the positions and elections need to be done, let us know!
